The proposed shuttle stop highlights the natural phenomena of Niagara Falls and plays homage to the American Falls, often upstaged by the horseshoe falls on the Canadian side of the Niagara River.
The magnificent vertical formation of the American Falls is seldom appreciated, due to limited access to observation points – trails and decks show the falls’
side view mostly, and boat rides like Maid of the Mist charge admission, which many visitors cannot afford. Also, the popularity of the Canadian Falls often pulls tourists straight there, resulting in people missing the American Falls altogether.
The shelter will provide an inviting glimpse into the natural beauty of the American Falls at a human scale, enticing tourists to make the American Falls the first stop in their visit.
